What We Take & What We Won't Take

One of the most common questions we hear in Meridian is simply, "Will you take this?" For the vast majority of household and property junk, the answer is yes. There are a handful of items we cannot legally load, and this guide lays out both lists clearly so there are no surprises on the day of your appointment. If your item is not listed, just call or text (601) 202-5059 and ask.

What we take

If two people can carry it and it is not hazardous, we can almost certainly haul it. That covers nearly everything a home, garage, or small business accumulates over the years:

• Furniture — sofas, sectionals, recliners, dressers, tables, chairs, bookshelves, entertainment centers, and office furniture.
• Mattresses and box springs — any size, including bed frames.
• Appliances — refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, ovens, microwaves, and water heaters. (We handle refrigerant appliances properly — more below.)
• Electronics — TVs, monitors, computers, printers, stereo equipment, and small devices.
• Yard and outdoor items — grills, patio furniture, lawn mowers (drained of fuel), trampolines, and swing sets.
• Hot tubs and spas — we cut them down and haul them off.
• Exercise equipment — treadmills, ellipticals, weight benches, and universal gyms.
• Household clutter — boxes, bags, clothing, toys, tools, and general odds and ends.
• Construction and remodel debris — lumber, drywall, cabinets, flooring, fixtures, and fencing from small projects.
• Whole spaces — full garages, storage units, sheds, attics, basements, and entire estates.

What we can't take

Certain materials are regulated as hazardous or require special handling, and a standard junk-removal truck is not licensed to carry them. For everyone's safety and to stay within Mississippi environmental rules, we generally cannot accept:

• Wet paint, stains, solvents, and thinners (dried-out latex paint cans are sometimes OK — ask us).
• Motor oil, gasoline, antifreeze, and other automotive fluids.
• Household and industrial chemicals, pesticides, and pool chemicals.
• Asbestos and asbestos-containing materials.
• Propane tanks and other pressurized cylinders.
• Ammunition, explosives, flares, and fireworks.
• Medical or biohazard waste, needles, and pharmaceuticals.
• Wet or leaking automotive batteries and large drums of unknown liquids.

Lauderdale County periodically hosts a Solid Waste Amnesty Day where residents can drop off exactly these kinds of items — old motor oil, paints and solvents, pesticides, and similar household hazardous waste — for free. If you have hazardous materials, ask us and we will point you toward the next amnesty event or the right local drop-off.

A few items with special handling

Refrigerators, freezers, and A/C units

These contain refrigerant that federal law requires be recovered by a certified technician before the appliance is scrapped. We manage that step so you do not have to. Note that even the City of Meridian's curbside bulk program will leave a fridge at the curb unless it has been tagged to show the refrigerant was removed.

Tires

We can haul old tires, but be aware Mississippi treats them differently from regular trash. Tires cannot go in a lined landfill loose, so they route to permitted waste-tire processors, and there is a per-tire disposal cost. See our tire guide for the full picture.

Electronics

TVs, monitors, and computers contain leaded glass and heavy metals, so we steer them to recycling rather than the landfill wherever possible. Wipe or destroy any personal data before handing over a computer or phone.

Why let a crew handle it

You can put many of these items at the curb yourself, so why hire anyone? Three reasons come up again and again in Meridian. First, the lifting: sofas, appliances, and console TVs are heavy and awkward, and the last thing anyone needs is a wrenched back or a scratched doorframe from wrestling a fridge down a hallway. Second, the sorting and disposal: knowing what the landfill will take, what needs to be tagged, what should be donated, and what counts as hazardous is a job in itself, and getting it wrong can mean a fine or a wasted trip. Third, the time: a crew clears in an hour what might take you a weekend of loading, driving, and unloading. We show up with the truck, the muscle, and the know-how, and the pile is simply gone.

Single items and same-day jobs

No load is too small. If it is just one dead treadmill, a single sagging mattress, or one broken recliner, we will still come get it — you do not have to wait until you have a truck's worth of junk to make a call worthwhile. And when a room needs to be cleared today, we do our best to fit you in the same or next day. Whether it is one item or an entire estate, the process is the same: you point, we carry, we haul, we sweep up.
